Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the educational inclusion needs of students who register with AccessAbility are met by negotiating reasonable educational adjustments using evidence-based practices in accordance with university policy, procedures, strategies and relevant government legislation and linking the students to other support services as required. 
  • Increasing staff and student awareness of, and skills to manage, equity considerations and educational adjustments for students with a disability, injury or health condition by facilitating informative training and workshops. 
  • Continually improving service delivery through strategic policy and service development, ensuring best practice and legislative obligations are consistently met. 
  • Mitigating service delivery risk, ensuring all governance, legal and reporting requirements are met. 
  • Developing and maintaining consultative and collaborative working relationships with educators and those supporting student success across the University. 

Requirements:

  • Occupational Therapist / Psychologist / Rehabilitation Counsellor
  • Degree qualifications in a relevant field.
  • It is a requirement of this position to hold and maintain ongoing registration with The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)and/or other relevant professional registration with one of the following as required by their professional background
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience in assessing, developing and evaluating reasonable adjustments and service provisions for people with a wide range of disabilities and health conditions in accordance with legislative requirements, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and record management skills with experience using an online case management system.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & BEHAVIOURS
  • Contemporary knowledge of the impact of disabilities or health conditions upon teaching and learning at a tertiary level institution, including knowledge of the application of the concepts of Universal and Inclusive Design practices.
  • High-level organisational, problem solving and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines, and an established record of exercising judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated high-level verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain working relationships, including demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with varying levels of stakeholders to achieve outcomes for the organisation.
