Psychology Laboratory eTechnician (Part-time)

Applications are invited for a Psychology Laboratory eTechnician. The postholder will be responsible for managing the psychology laboratories and research resources at the Singapore Campus of James Cook University.
Key activities and responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and support to students and new staff members in the safe use of laboratory equipment, laboratory techniques and general trouble shooting
Managing the access to the lab (who has keys, deposits paid for key, key returned after use)
Rolling out an booking system for use of lab equipment/hardware
General maintenance of lab spaces, reporting of issues
Monitor appropriate use of lab spaces
Quarterly report on lab use (increase/decrease) to assess current/future needs
Conduct orientation to lab protocols/etiquette for new lab users
Develop lab-use manual, standard operating procedures (SOP) and laboratory protocols in consultation with the line manager and academic staff within the psychology group
Create descriptions of lab spaces and inventories plus recommended best use for each
Approve researcher requests for classroom bookings for research purposes
Maintain current knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and complete all relevant tasks to ensure adherence within the research laboratories
Prepare and present displays and performs hands-on sessions for university marketing events
Maintaining dynamic inventory of Lab equipment/hardware and software
Working with MIS to ensure software licenses are up to date on lab computers
Troubleshooting minor hardware/software issues (e.g. ePrime, Qualtrics, Inquisit, etc.)
Maintaining booking system for research equipment and monitoring return of same
Provide support with ordering of consumables, research materials and scientific laboratory equipment for research
Minimum four-year Bachelor degree in Psychology; or three-year Bachelor degree in Psychology plus Honours or Graduate Diploma of Psychology; or a three-year Psychology degree plus completion of a post-trades certificate and extensive relevant experience as a technician; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
Demonstrated experience in standard laboratory techniques and familiarity with equipment utilised in psychology research laboratories
Demonstrated competence in software programming in Inquisit and ePrime
Demonstrated knowledge in use of survey software e.g. Qualtrics
Demonstrated understanding of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and practical application within a laboratory environment
Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining a variety of research software and/or equipment
Demonstrated sound computer literacy competencies in Microsoft Office applications and a knowledge and experience using web browsers and blackboard platforms
Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills including interpersonal skills with a strong ability to interact with student and staff and proven commitment to customer service.
Demonstrated well developed organisational and time management skills with the ability and willingness to work as a part of a team or independently
