Videographer - Academic Lecture Recording Specialist (6-Month Contract)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Videographer specializing in academic lecture recording for a 6-month contract position. The ideal candidate will capture high-quality video content of educational lectures, ensuring clear visual and audio delivery of instructional materials. This role requires technical expertise in video production as well as an understanding of educational environments and the ability to work effectively with faculty and academic staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain professional video equipment to record academic lectures
• Ensure optimal lighting, audio quality, and framing for clear instructional content delivery
• Coordinate with faculty and instructional designers to understand lecture requirements and capture teaching aids (slides, demonstrations, whiteboard work)
• Perform basic post-production editing including trimming, adding title cards, and ensuring audio clarity
• Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to minimize disruption to lecture schedules
• Advise faculty on best practices for on-camera presentation and visual aids
• Maintain and care for video equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition
• Complete assigned lecture recording projects within the 6-month contract period

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of experience in videography or video production
• Proficiency with professional video cameras, lighting equipment, and audio recording systems
• Working knowledge of video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
• Understanding of proper lighting techniques for indoor environments
• Experience with audio capture in large room settings
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse faculty members
• Ability to work independently and manage recording schedules efficiently

Equipment Knowledge

• Professional video cameras (Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, etc.)
• Audio recording equipment (lavalier microphones, shotgun mics, mixers)
• Lighting systems appropriate for classroom environments
• Video editing software
• Media asset management systems

Working Conditions

• 6-month contract position.
• Full-time hours (40 hours/week) during the academic term
• Work primarily in classroom environments and lecture halls
• May require moving and setting up equipment in different campus locations
• Some evening or weekend hours may be required for special lecture events
• Ability to lift and carry video equipment up to 15kg

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Senior Learning Technologist.
