Senior / Research Fellow – Aquaculture Health

Selection criteria

  1. PhD in the area of fish disease, epidemiology, parasitology, microbiology, or related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated high-level design and execution of field survey and laboratory experimental study, including live fish bioassays, data collation, analysis, and interpretation. 
  3. Demonstrated experience in the development and validation of challenge models for marine parasites/ parasite control farm trials.
  4. Experience in the development and validation of diagnostics for pathogen detection (qPCR, DNA/RNA/ antibody probe-based, serology or microbiology detection assays, ELISAs, histopathology).
  5. Experience in the isolation, proper storage and curation of pathogens from field surveys.
  6. Experience contributing significantly to the management of projects, working with clients, stakeholders, and collaborators, and preparing quarterly project reports.
  7. Demonstrated history of high-impact research outputs including publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals.
  8. Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in a team environment and with stakeholders.

Desirable

  1. Demonstrated experience working with aquaculture industry-linked projects.
  2. Experience working with use of IoT and AI to analyse and interpret data to support disease control.

Employment type: Three years (3) fulltime from Nov 2025 to Oct 2028, renewable contract subject to Ministry of Manpower Singapore jurisdiction and probationary period.

Remuneration and conditions: The positions command an appropriate remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience. All employment salary arrangements are offered in SGD. Candidates must consider the lower tax structure in Singapore and the organizational practice of Annual-Wage-Supplement equal to a month’s salary at the end of the calendar year (as eligible) subject to JCU board’s decision.
