Assistant Manager Student Progression

The Assistant Manager Student Progression is responsible for monitoring student progression, retention, attrition, move-up to graduation, for all courses offered at the Singapore campus of JCU. This would involve timely follow-ups, accurate tracking, and interdepartmental coordination and advising students on their Academic Performance Notice and managing its relevant procedures. This includes liaising with the Exam Unit for pathway programs, collaborating with the Australia Progression, Student Matters Team for other programs, and working closely with Student Affairs, Student Administration, and Finance for respective matter. Additionally, the officer will assist students in connecting with appropriate support services and respond to academic status inquiries. Duties also includes assisting students with learning skills.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
1. Monitoring, Reporting and Strategies to mitigate or improve: Student Progression, Student Retention, Attrition, Graduation number, rate and move-up students from one course to another:
  • Track students’ academic progression, retention, attrition, graduation and move-up across different programs, ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with the Exam Unit and Academic Head for progression of pathway students.
  • Liaise with the Australia Progression, Student Matter Team to manage progression for non-pathway programs.
  • Identify students needing additional academic support and connect them with appropriate Support Services.
  • Provide student advisory role with regards to all progression matters.
  • Monitor and develop intervention programs for student learning.
  • Conduct workshops and guide student learning skills improvement.
2. To lead and manage the Progression support strategies involving various departments:
  • To work closely with various departments and manage the procedure/initiatives supporting the students’ learning and progression.
  • Work closely with Student Affairs, Student Administration, and Finance for student contracts, Student Pass renewals, and financial matters related to progression.
  • Coordinate with the Enrolment Team regarding program change program requests & other related enrolment enquiries and ensure smooth transitions.
3. Student Communication & Enquiries:
  • Respond to student queries related to academic standing, progression eligibility.
  • Co-ordinate with Enrolments team to provide students with guidance on alternative study options, including pathway programs or course transfers.
  • Ensure clear and accurate communication regarding academic policies, deadlines, and requirements.
4. Process Improvement & Compliance:
  • Plan, discuss and Implement strategies to support as a continuous improvement for the academic progression rate, retention rate, attrition rate, graduation rate and move-up rate.
  • Maintain and update tracking systems for academic progression rate, retention rate, attrition rate, graduation rate and move-up rate
  • Ensure adherence to academic policies and progression rules set by the university.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in monitoring and follow-up processes.
Requirements : 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience in student administration, enrolment, or academic progression or retention roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and academic tracking tools is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and tracking skills for managing student progression.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various departments and students.
  • Ability to analyse academic data and identify students needing intervention.
  • Problem-solving skills to assist students with their academic queries and challenges.
  • Attention to detail in ensuring compliance with academic policies and administrative procedures.
